The project aims to develop decision-making algorithms and control systems for real-world traffic scenarios using the Trident One platform. The goal is to enable the vehicle to drive autonomously on a closed course by manipulating the steering angle, throttle, and brakes based on perception data obtained from point cloud, RGB camera, and GNSS pose sensors. Luminosity’s team equipped the vehicle with software-controllable actuators and sensors to turn it into an autonomous platform. In 2023, a capstone project run through Luminosity to advance the Trident One platform was named ‘Best in Class’ this year of all engineering capstone projects.
