Winning the XPRIZE

Luminosity brought ASU global recognition at the end of 2020, when a student team won the XPRIZE Next Generation Mask Challenge with their innovative design for a more effective, comfortable, and affordable mask. The FloeMask uses a bifurcated filtration chamber to achieve a higher level of filtration than single-layer masks, and it is made from a soft, breathable fabric that is comfortable to wear for long periods of time. The FloeMask was designed to be significantly less expensive than traditional masks, making it more accessible to people in developing countries.
