The Scholarships

Vanderploeg Scholarship Program
Application window: March – April
A $15 million endowed scholarship funded by Workiva CEO Marty Vanderploeg. Scholars receive $5,000 per year — renewable for a second year — to join Luminosity Lab projects spanning sustainability, healthcare, education, and engineering. Open to incoming freshmen and rising sophomores.

Luminosity Student Researcher
Application window: July – August
The primary path into the lab for students who want hands-on experience with real-world R&D. Researchers join interdisciplinary project teams and contribute directly to active moonshot, frontier research, and student venture initiatives. Open to undergraduate and graduate students across all majors.
